wonderful things for Nepalis and for Nepal. Please feel free to make your own

I met these wonderful people probably for the first time in 2011. It made me
realize, Responsible Citizens ask not what their
country can do for them, but rather what they can do for their
country.
Umesh Ghimire, Manoz Bhattarai, Dhumbra Shrestha and thousands of friends who are showing how to become responsible youths by doing not talking, as part of the ‘Come on Youth Stand up‘ group. Responsible citizens stand up and act.
Saroj Karki and friends have been active in the Far east around Biratnagar, Dharan area, as “Youth for Blood“ mobilizing youths to become responsible citizen through charity, blood donations and more… Responsible citizens take action in their own tole (neighborhood), town and city.
Juju Kaji and friends are quietly helping homeless children in Kathmandu live with dignity through Heartbeat. Responsible citizens are quiet yet always in action.
Diwash Pradhan, Nitesh Subedi, Anil Udaya, Surakhsya Panta and friends are making an alliance against the bandh with youths,local entrepreneurs and artists in Kathmandu. Responsible citizens lead from front and lead to unite against the power of fear.
Aanand Mishra, Ruku Shrestha, Jaya Ram Nepali, Sashkit Joshi, Ashim Adhikari and a hardy bunch of friends are coordinating a campaign to make Kanti Children’s hospital better again, showing way for responsible citizens to act through Volunteers for Change. Responsible citizens start even though they don’t seem to have any resources to start…
Musical Groups like Kutumba who use music to unite Nepalis through positive message and melodies from all parts of Nepal and young rappers like “Nire” Maharjan who use hard-hitting social messages in their songs. Responsible citizens ask not what the country can do for them, but rather what they can do for their country
Dilip Gurung and friends show up and amplify citizen voices, demanding to be “left alone” from dirty politics and let us live a dignified life through their “Gari Khana deu” campaigns.
Ranzyt Amazonaire Paul , Laxmi Tamang, Udeep Shakya, Atank Basnet and many anonymous friends who live abroad, and who tirelessly motivate people to focus on positive and not negative of Nepal. Responsible citizens are not limited by distance.
Prasanna KC and friends from “Helping hands to Jamuna” group - a collective of random Nepali citizens all around the world, came together to help a starving child Jamuna from Rukum. It gives us hope that at times of crisis, Nepalis will care for each other, no matter where they are. Responsible citizens unite to care for any random strangers.
Claire Naylor and friends have been helping high school girl students become better leaders of tomorrow through the Women Lead Nepal initiative.
Shrijan Regmi, Sha dev gautam, Ashim Adhikari and friends are fighting for Consumer Rights in Kathmandu and probably beyond. Responsible Citizens show the injustices in our daily lives that most live silently with.
Saurav Thapa and friends from National School of Social Work College who went 2 day full hunger strike on their own to demand accountability from Nepal’s leadership. Responsible Citizens act without waiting for some-one else’s lead or signal.
Shilsila Acharya and friends (you know who you are) have poured their heart out in different Kathmandu Valley beautification campaigns. Responsible citizens take small and big initiatives while others are busy complaining about the lack of any.
Umanga Pandey and “Kehi Garaun” group decided to do something about irresponsible politics and silently made their stand on the streets of Kathmandu, every week, for months. Responsible citizens do what they promise, even when alone.
Ranjit Acharya, Anil Shah and friends are motivating the National Football Team among others, to unite Nepalis together and give people hope in this increasingly fragmented, increasingly silent Nepal through the message, “मेरो देश, मेरै दायित्व”
Anil Chitrakar, Stuti Basynet, Prashant Singh, Raj Gyawali, Suman Joshi taught me how the power of a handful coming together, can work wonders!
Kailash K. Shrestha, Sumeet Shrestha and friends are helping raise creativity and social change through street art from their group, Artudio. Responsible citizens find creative means to start positive change.
Sagar Prasain and his friends are working on creating audiobooks for the visually challenged, helping visually challenged Nepalis complete their education and live a dignified and fruitful life.
Bikesh Shrestha and friends are trying to save Bagmati and us, by tirelessly putting words into action through the “Save Bagmati Campaign“.
Rabindra Mishra, Mahesh Dhungel, Sameer Dixit and friends, keep honing their anti-corruption campaign through “Bhrastachari lai Kira (Jail) Parosh”
Rezon Shakya and friends at Rotaracts who are uniting Nepali urban youths in rotaract clubs through community services.
Anya Vaverko and friends at Saatya are trying to mix creativity, technology and activism to bring critical thinking in urban youths of Nepal.
Rekha Nepali and friends at MJClub who had started a fan club based on Michael Jackson and in his memory, are volunteering their time, energy to help Nepalis and other citizens groups. Responsible citizens build their own motivation, without waiting for others to do it for them.
Many Nepali Bloggers blog about social issues such as Umesh Shrestha, Ujjwal Acharya, many Facebook,Twitter friends and a few more Nepali bloggers who bring critical thinking to the rest of us.
Thousands of you, my friends (you know who you are) from Nepal Unites परिवर्तनको लागि हामी नेपाली एक who continue to help unite Nepalis to be responsible while pushing leaders to be accountable so that our Nepal becomes prosperous!
And you, the anonymous ones, who don’t show yourselves yet quiet act instead of talk. Thank you. It’s been a privilege to know you. Hope to meet more Nepalis like you in action in 2012.
